The Nails and what they are for
Nail # 84 8/25/17 “US President Donald Trump on Friday pardoned controversial former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, who had been convicted last month of criminal contempt for illegally targeting Hispanic immigrants.
In his first act of presidential clemency, Trump pardoned the deeply divisive 85-year-old Arpaio, who ignored a federal court order that he stop detaining immigrants.
The move earned immediate scorn from Democrats and rights groups, who accused the Republican billionaire — still reeling from the fallout over his remarks on unrest in Charlottesville — of seeking to divide the country.” (NPR) Racist Trump shows us his true colors, SAD.
Nail # 83 8/22/17 “Reeling from criticism over his initial Aug. 12 statement, Mr. Trump was pushed to give additional remarks by his top advisers, as well as his daughter Ivanka Trump. So he did, two days later. But that statement was criticized as too late.
So at an impromptu Aug. 15 news conference, where he was supposed to announce an infrastructure project and not take questions, Mr. Trump instead reverted to his initial statement. He described some of the people at the initial neo-Nazi march as peaceful protesters and “very fine people” who did not want to see statues of Confederate leaders removed.
But Mr. Trump has continued to fume about the criticism, and, according to people who have spoken with him, vented anger over cancellations at his club at Mar-a-Lago in response to his remarks.”(NYTimes) Please save our nation from this clown.

Nail # 82 8/12/17 “But President Trump, known for the rapid-fire tweets, remained silent throughout the morning. It was after 1 p.m. when he weighed in, writing on Twitter: “We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!”
At a late-afternoon news conference to discuss veterans’ health care, Trump said that he was following the events in Charlottesville closely. “The hate and the division must stop and must stop right now,” Trump said, without specifically mentioning white nationalists or their views. “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides. On many sides,” he said.
Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, a Trump supporter who was in Charlottesville Saturday, quickly shot back at the president. “So, after decades of White Americans being targeted for discriminated & anti-White hatred, we come together as a people, and you attack us?” Duke tweeted. “I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists.”( Washington Post) Trump is one of them, he just cannot say it in public yet.

Nail # 81 7/31/17 “The strategy, the advisers agreed, should be for Donald Trump Jr. to release a statement to get ahead of the story. They wanted to be truthful, so their account couldn’t be repudiated later if the full details emerged.
But within hours, at the president’s direction, the plan changed.
Flying home from Germany on July 8 aboard Air Force One, Trump personally dictated a statement in which Trump Jr. said that he and the Russian lawyer had “primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children” when they met in June 2016, according to multiple people with knowledge of the deliberations. The statement, issued to the New York Times as it prepared an article, emphasized that the subject of the meeting was “not a campaign issue at the time.”
The claims were later shown to be misleading.” (Washington Post) The “Liar in Chief”, how long can this go on? Do Republicans have to turn in their backbones to enter Washington DC?

Nail # 80 7/29/17 “WASHINGTON — Donald Trump was promising to destroy a vile criminal cartel. Unfortunately, not his own. But one could be forgiven for mistaking the vicious tactics of the MS-13 gang, as described by the president in a Long Island speech on Friday, with those of the Trump White House. “They don’t like shooting people because it’s too quick, it’s too fast,” Trump said, adding: “They like to knife them and cut them, and let them die slowly because that way, it’s more painful, and they enjoy watching that much more. These are animals. “The president could have been describing his own sadistic assault on Jeff Sessions, “as flies to wanton boys,” as Shakespeare said. Trump turned Sessions — with all his backward views on gays, drugs and criminal justice — into an unlikely hero for lawmakers from both parties who began hailing him as a crown jewel of American jurisprudence.” (New York Times) Do you remember back to the days when we have a good person in the White House and not some unhappy mob boss?
Nail # 79 7/2/17 “BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — A day after defending his use of social media as befitting a ‘modern day’ president, President Trump appeared to promote violence against CNN in a tweet.
Trump, who is on vacation at his Bedminster golf resort, posted on Twitter an old video clip of him performing in a WWE professional wrestling match, but with a CNN logo superimposed on the head of his opponent. In the clip, Trump is shown slamming the CNN avatar to the ground and pounding him with simulated punches and elbows to the head. Trump added the hastags #FraudNewsCNN and #FNN, for ‘fraud news network.’”(Washington Post) We have a very sick man in the White House, how long before anyone in Washington gets a backbone and puts a stop to this?

The organization plans to spend between $300 and $400 million on politics and policy in the 2018 mid-term election, which is more than the network spent in the 2016 election when they stayed on the sidelines of the presidential election because of their distaste for then-candidate Donald Trump. The organization, however, has spent the past three election cycles drumming up opposition to Obamacare and running campaigns against it.”(NBC news) Please help all I see is swamp in every direction I look. Nail # 77 6/22/17 “The Affordable Care Act gave health insurance to millions of Americans by shifting resources from the wealthy to the poor and by moving oversight from states to the federal government. The Senate bill introduced Thursday pushes back forcefully on both dimensions.
The draft Senate bill, called the Better Care Reconciliation Act, would jettison those taxes while reducing federal funding for the care of low-income Americans. The bill’s largest benefits go to the wealthiest Americans, who have the most comfortable health care arrangements, and its biggest losses fall to poorer Americans who rely on government support. The bill preserves many of the structures of Obamacare, but rejects several of its central goals. (NY Times) Good health care should be a birthright of any civilized country and not something only for the wealthy.
Nail # 76 6/16/17 “Seven percent of all American adults believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows, according to a nationally representative online survey commissioned by the Innovation Center of U.S. Dairy. If you do the math, that works out to 16.4 million misinformed, milk-drinking people. The equivalent of the population of Pennsylvania (and then some!) does not know that chocolate milk is milk, cocoa and sugar.” (Washington Post) I can not think of anything to add.

Comey’s handling of the investigation into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential race.
In a number of testy exchanges with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sessions said he would not answer many of their questions because of a long-standing Justice Department policy that he said protects private conversations between Cabinet secretaries and the president.” (Washington Post) Trump did build a wall, but not with Mexico. It has been in front of me all this time and I am just seeing it.

But a congressman from Illinois wants to bring new meaning to the word.
The COVFEFE Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) on Monday, aims to preserve tweets from the president's personal Twitter account, ensuring that Trump's social-media posts are archived as presidential records.
“In order to maintain public trust in government, elected officials must answer for what they do and say; this includes 140-character tweets,” Quigley said in a statement. “If the President is going to take to social media to make sudden public policy proclamations, we must ensure that these statements are documented and preserved for future reference.” (Washington Post) This is history in the making, important papers to the state of mind of the president of country are very important. In school I was told you have to learn history so not to repeat mistakes. Trump is the biggest mistake as President in my lifetime, including Tricky Dick . I hope this will never happen again.

In a 70-page brief, the government also argued that the lawsuit is based on a faulty interpretation of the Constitution and that the plaintiffs had not demonstrated any revenue loss because of Mr. Trump’s business operations.” ( NYtimes) Trump is out to make Trump rich again, everything he does is to benefit Trump.

Eric Trump, Mr. Trump's second-oldest son, told Forbes all the money from the annual golf tournaments at Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, New York benefited children with cancer, and he did not pay to use his family's golf course.
"We get to use our assets 100 percent free of charge," he told Forbes' Dan Alexander.
But IRS tax forms Forbes obtained show use of the course wasn't free after all. Trump has urged leaders of Canada and Mexico to reach him on his cellphone, according to former and current U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the practice. “We were just on the floor talking about the SB4 protests, and [state Rep.] Matt Rinaldi came up to us and made it a point to say, ‘I called (ICE) on all of them,’ ” state Rep. Philip Cortez (D) said. “And this is completely unacceptable. We will not be intimidated. We will not be disrespected.”
The protesters were apparently chanting and waving signs against Senate Bill 4, the controversial Texas legislation that Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed into law this month. It bans sanctuary cities, allows police to question anyone they detain about their immigration status, and compels local officials to comply with federal requests to detain individuals in state and local law enforcement facilities. Mr. Brennan, in testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, said he was concerned by a series of suspicious contacts between Russian government officials and Mr. Trump’s associates. All told, the budget would reduce spending on safety-net programs by more than $1 trillion over 10 years.

Tweets from the account -- @ALT_uscis -- indicate that it is run by someone who is an employee of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services division of Homeland Security.

Less than 100 days into Trump’s chaotic presidency, the White House is splintering over policy issues ranging from tax reform to trade. President Trump visited the Environmental Protection Agency on March 28, to sign a sweeping executive order that instructs regulators to rewrite key rules curbing U.S. carbon emissions and other environmental regulations. In a party-line vote, House Republicans freed Internet service providers such as Verizon, AT&T and Comcast of protections approved just last year that had sought to limit what companies could do with information such as customer browsing habits, app usage history, location data and Social Security numbers. The effort to keep Yates from testifying has further angered Democrats, who have accused Republicans of trying to damage the inquiry.
According to the letters, the Justice Department notified Yates earlier this month that the administration considers her possible testimony — including on the firing of former national security adviser Michael Flynn for his contacts with the Russian ambassador — to be off-limits in a congressional hearing because the topics are covered by attorney-client privilege or the presidential communication privilege” (Washington Post). Given the rhetoric Republicans have used over the past seven years to attack health reform, you might have expected them to do away with the whole structure of the Affordable Care Act — deregulate, de-subsidize and let the magic of the free market do its thing.
